Architecture is one of our most visible and long-lasting forms of expression. Since the time of the Pyramids in Egypt, to the Pantheon of ancient Greece, buildings have been an expression of our culture. In the last 150 years, a unique form of artistry has developed, changing the way we view the urban environments around us. Why can't building materials be more adaptable? Why can't they function more like clothing, or even human skin? Intelligent design in nature has perfected itself over millions of years, so, why aren't we using more of its principals? Biology major at Princeton University turned architect, Doris Kim Sung, has taken smart materials that respond dynamically to temperature change and is turning the field of engineering design on its head.
